The ride will begin in the parking lot behind the Chamber of Commerce, Cochran Police Dept., and Bleckley County Courthouse which are located at 102 N. 2nd Street, Cochran, GA.

The BIKING BLECKLEY METRIC 100 is an annual family oriented easy/moderate bicycle ride through the Southern Country Roads of Bleckley and surrounding counties. The event always takes place on the last Saturday of February, so mark your calendar! (Feb. 27, 2010) It is perfect for families and new cyclists, as well as experienced riders.

The 62.5 Mile Metric Century Ride

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. All participants should be ready to ride at 8:30 A.M. Eastern Time

The Metric 100 is a big loop with other routes branching off and heading back to the start. All Bike Routes are supported with SAGS,
maps, refreshment breaks, and local law enforcement. All roads are in very good condition with flat to moderate rolling hills.

All roads are in very good shape and are flat to moderate rolling hills. There is no backtracking and all routes will be well marked and easy to follow. The Biking Bleckley Cycle Club is coordinating the event while the Chamber is the sponsor.

The Metric 100 starts @ 8:30 AM; all other rides begin immediately thereafter.

Come share the less traveled roads of a rural community.

Safety

SAG Vehicle Support will be just around the corner or a phone call away. SAGS will be available to provide on-road support to address medical, mechanical, and other situations that might affect your ability to ride. SAG vehicles will carry cell phones, emergency medical contact information, water and snacks, a basic first aid kit.

SAG drivers will assist you in making every reasonable attempt get back on the road. If a life-threatening medical emergency occurs on the road, call 911 from your cell phone to be put in touch with emergency medical services. After contacting emergency medical services call a SAG driver to inform them of the situation and so that you are accounted for. If you do not have a cell phone, the SAG driver will contact emergency medical services once informed of the situation.

If you experience a critical but non-life threatening situation that severely affects your ability to ride, such as a medical or mechanical situation or finding yourself severely lost, contact a SAG driver for their assistance. You can use a cell phone, or have another participant inform the SAG driver at the next rest stop.

LOCAL EVENTS | BLECKLEY COUNTY | CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Just wanted to drop a line regarding the Biking Bleckley ride on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2008. The weather tried to dampen our spirits a bit, but the organizers did a wonderful job. We were made feel welcome from the minute we arrived and the police coverage was the best I have ever seen in an event of this type. The folks at the sag stops were absolutely friendly, including the ambulance staff which, thankfully we didn't need. Thank you for a great time, I intend to be back next year with more friends riding. See you next year, Don Gale Buford, GA
